When there are so many expectations and responsibilities to uphold in everyday life- we hit a point where we just want to rot in bed and chill the hell out. But after a day of rotting indoors, this won’t give us the best feeling. Achieving the opposite of what a chilled time out should do. The days I don’t leave my house can make me feel like the least interesting person in the world. So I wanted to make a list of things we can do to be productive but most importantly keep us being chillers.
Sometimes being chill will give people the wrong impression, it can give people the impression that you’re not productive or even that, you’re lazy. *gasp*
I’m here to prove that wrong! I present a list of a few ways to keep you chill but also give people the impression that you’re a hard worker.
There are several ways to relax that I’ve found, which leads me to feeling like the most comfortable, clear, high-energy, relaxed, productive, and chill I can be. All within my local area.
How to be chill AF:
- Go to a café.
If you haven’t heard, Cafés aren’t just meant for the daily coffee- they’re also meant to be a place where you can go sit down and do work. I guess this may seem obvious, but I really want to emphasize how a good café can change the way you think about spending a comfortable morning/afternoon. I’m actually at my favorite local café right now. I’m writing this chill How To blog in a café with good coffee and a lot of productive-looking people. Here I blend into the upbeat workflow while secretly practicing the chilled workflow.
At a good café, I could even be doing nothing but sitting on my phone and scrolling, and yet still I would feel productive because I’m at a café. I even recommend going to them alone!
Being alone at a café gives off the impression that you’re doing something cool and shows a level of confidence that makes you look even chiller.
There is plenty you could do at a café as well, there’s working on a hobby, reading a new book, journaling, people watching, editing some creative project, a social experiment, enjoying a fun drink, and practicing the chill life in the wild.
Also being the friend that knows the best café spots is a super chill friend to be.
- Read in the park.
Being a reader is super interesting. I know growing up I always wanted to be a big reader because when I saw someone reading a book they looked like the coolest person ever. So now that I’m older (I’m 22 years old) and enjoy reading books I like to monopolize this skill as much as possible.
A chill way to be a reader and look cool is to go read in a park. This method is overlooked, I don’t see nearly enough readers in my local parks.
I think it’s important to note that it doesn’t matter what you are reading it just matters that you’re doing it. Even if you’re going to the park to read the newest chapter of Solo Leveling I guarantee you will feel chill as hell if you do it in the park.
This activity can be done alone or in a small group- I think it is best to keep the group small or just go alone because this is meant to make you chill. Be conscious of the people you bring when you’re charging your chill. If you didn’t know people emit an energetic field and being close to people who disturb your energy field will make this activity null.
- Do thrifting the right way.
Thrifting is so chill! The chillest people in the world thrift and know where to get the best pieces.
Okay, here’s your strategy: pull up Pinterest where you will find a couple of inspiring outfits or decor you want to replicate, then put on a decent outfit (don’t worry you’re gonna find cooler clothes there), and bring headphones (even if you aren’t going to listen to music), and a drink of choice (do I even need to explain this one). This will set the tone for the best-chilled-out thrifting.
Sorting through every piece of clothing on the racks is where you will find the coolest drip. Once you have an armful of potential drip, pick out only the coolest pieces and disregard the pieces you picked up that you’ll never actually wear or look like something out of the mid-2000s. But I want you to be brave.
An activity like this on paper is not productive and only spends money and space in your closet. But if you do it right you won’t only feel chill but you’ll look it too.
The most chill people always know where the best thrift stores in the local vicinity are. You can be one of them.
The next time you’re with your friends you will be the one who recommends where to go thrifting.
Knowing these things will also stick with you on a day-to-day basis, and your identity will begin to shift. You’ll be and look chiller, I can guarantee it.
*also a sneaky tip is to donate your clothes- it’s both an activity to do at home while listening to music or watching a show and it clears up space for better pieces.
- Find underground music.
Okay for this category the key is not to be the person who has music that sounds like your middle school project but music that sounds like you’d pay $30 to go see General Admission in concert for.
This one is tricky because there is a learning curve. Like style, music is a matter of personal preference, and it can take trial and error. Keeping that in mind remember to search for music in your own time, like at night in bed.
If/when you want to go show others your new style of music do so when you feel confident enough, because they might not like what your going to show them but that shouldn’t change your opinion if you think the songs are bangers. Its more fun that way, less pressure.
Either way though, if you can pull out a few banger songs no one has heard you’ll feel cool and it’ll be chill.
To get you started Ill even give out couple bands I think are pretty cool; Glass Animals Wonderful Nothing, Flume Say It, Hotel Ugly Shut Up My Moms Calling, The Beaches Blame Brett.
- Learn to cook.
This one is different from the rest because it could fall outside the line of chill, but with the right combo you can make this your ultimate ability.
Imagine this, your with your family or friends or a date or by yourself or whatever and people get hungry. You think oh I’ve got a sick pasta recipe I can whip up for us. Now your peers think you’re skilled in the kitchen and you fed them something yum, they’ll definitely think you’re a chiller.
If you think you’re not a good cook try following along a youtube video for an easy pasta recipe. Everybody loves pasta. If you could make a spaghetti bolognese sauce from scratch that’d be pretty chill.
Just having a few good and simple things you can do in the kitchen that doesnt include microwaving or a kraft box recipe is all you need.
I think this one could dissrubt your chill in the beginning but you never know you could be finding a new way to relax and be productive.
*Plus this one saves money.
Thanks a bunch for reading todays Chillers Life Blog.
Stay chill.
